Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum or CBD Isolate: Difference Explained

CBD is a seemingly complicated and confusing topic, especially because people aren’t too educated on what certain terms mean or how to identify the difference between products – and we can assure you that this is more common than people realize.

One of the most confusing things about CBD for most people is the use of terms like full spectrum, broad spectrum and isolate which are on every single product label and description. We want to explain exactly what each term means in the simplest way possible so that you can navigate your CBD shopping experience with far more ease than before. Knowing simple terms helps a great deal and benefits you long term once you know exactly what to look out for and what you are getting.

Full Spectrum

It’s actually incredibly simple. Full spectrum is when a CBD product contains ALL the compounds in the cannabis plant, including THC and compounds such as CBC, CBN, CBG and more. The purpose of full spectrum products is to have the benefits and elements that each individual compound possesses without losing the quality of the plant in the process. And fortunately because of THC regulations, the amount of THC allowed in full spectrum products is generally too minimal to intoxicate you or show up on a drug test. A great example of a high quality full spectrum product is this Enjoy Full Spectrum Relief Gummies.

Broad Spectrum

Broad spectrum is when a CBD product contains all the compounds in the cannabis plant EXCEPT for THC. This means that the product has all the natural and beneficial compounds still there, just excluding THC – which means that these products are easier to regulate as they will not pose the risk of exceeding the THC limit. While these products are great, they are still missing the potential benefits that THC could be providing. An incredible broad spectrum product that we can’t fault, though, is Kurativ Broad Spectrum Bliss Bites Apple Rings.

Isolate

CBD isolate is a product that ONLY contains CBD, with none of the other naturally occurring compounds from the cannabis plant. This is mostly for pharmaceutical purposes and merely focuses on the benefits of CBD as a standalone element rather than the synergy of the other compounds. This product still works, especially if you are targeting a specific ailment and are prescribed CBD, but it is missing the ample benefits of the other compounds. Finding a good quality isolate is difficult but we highly recommend Medterra Relief & Recovery Pain Cream.

The differences between the three should be quite clear, and while we can’t say that one is better than the other – we can say that product choice is important regardless of the spectrum. The quality of the product is what matters most and if you want to be certain of the quality and trustworthiness of a brand or product, we recommend looking at the lab reports that should be provided by the supplier.
