Common Vape Troubleshooting

Okay, we’ve all been there. We bought a new device and just a few days later the thing seems to be broken. Here’s a short checklist for troubleshooting possible defects on your disposable vape device before deciding to throw it away:

1. Test the Battery

Might sound dumb, but as a shop owner, I can’t tell you how many times that this has been the case. Ensure the device is fully charged or has sufficient battery life. Look for any indicators (lights) showing battery status.

2. Inspect for clogs

Take a puff without pushing the button. If it feels like you’re sucking an extra thick milkshake through the world’s tiniest straw, congratulations, you have a clog. Check the mouthpiece and airflow holes for any blockages. Gently tap the device to dislodge any debris.

3. Verify Connection points

Especially with carts, if you got gunk on your threads, your connection is dead. Ensure all connections are clean and secure. Make sure there are no loose parts or misalignments.

4. Examine Distillate level

Make sure that you didn’t vape it bro. Who would do that? It happens all of the time. Confirm there is enough distillate in the device. If the level is low, like on its last few puffs, the device might not work properly.

5. Check for leaks

If you live in a state where it gets hotter than Hades, don’t leave your devices inside of your vehicles. Look for any signs of distillate leaking from the device. Clean any distillate residue from the outside of the device. A little alcohol on a paper towel works wonders.

6. Test the Draw

Again, this is the first way to check for a clog. But it is also the way to check those devices that do not have a button, so you can make sure that the automatic switch is working. Try taking a few gentle puffs to see if the device activates. If there’s no vapor, try a slightly stronger draw. You’re almost trying to feel a slight “pop” to unclog your device.

7. Listen for Sounds / Look for lights

Pay attention for any unusual sounds when using the device (e.g., crackling, gurgling). No sound may indicate a battery or connection issue. No lights when plugged in or when pushing the button (taking a draw) off of the device may also indicate a battery issue.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, then it might be time to dispose of the device and consider purchasing a new one. If you ever have a problem, we’re here to help, even if you didn’t buy it from us. Let us know, and we can troubleshoot your device together. Thank you friends,
